Day 1 :

Amazon immersion & night safari

We begin with a 40-minute boat ride from Puerto Bolívar along the Madre de Dios River, heading to the Corto Maltes Amazonía Lodge.

Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed with a refreshing drink made from seasonal local fruits. Then, with your guide, you’ll take a first walk through the Amazon rainforest to discover tropical trees, medicinal plants, and other natural wonders within the lodge’s private 60-hectare concession.

You’ll also visit a rubber tapper camp, one of the region’s traditional economic activities, and learn about the artisanal process of latex extraction used in various products. This visit lasts around 2 hours.

Before dinner, enjoy a night boat excursion for a caiman safari, where you may spot other riverbank wildlife under the stars.

Day 2 :

Sandoval Lake & Amazon wildlife

We start early at 5:30 a.m. After a light coffee or tea, we head out to Lake Sandoval. A 20-minute boat ride on the Madre de Dios River takes us to the trailhead, where we begin a 3 km walk through the lush jungle of the Tambopata National Reserve.

Along the way, we may spot giant trees, monkeys (squirrel, howler, and capuchin), snakes, and birds like the hoatzin, kingfisher, and anhinga. Once at the lake, we’ll paddle in small rowing boats to look for giant river otters, as well as caimans, piranhas, and many bird species.

After the adventure, we return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll climb one of the two observation towers at Corto Maltes—20 or 42 meters tall—built for birdwatching and canopy views, with a stunning sunset possible (the guide will coordinate based on group preferences). We end the day with a visit to a traditional Brazil nut camp.

Day 3 :

Parrot clay lick & local life

We wake up at 5:30 a.m. for a coffee or hot infusion before starting a 20-minute walk to the parrot clay lick. Here, you can observe 3 to 5 different parrot species feeding on mineral-rich clay, essential for their digestion. A colorful and fascinating natural show.

After breakfast, we return by boat to Puerto Maldonado. A vehicle will be waiting to take us to the local market, where we’ll enjoy a short 15–20 minute tour to see typical regional products and learn how locals stock up.

After this visit, we head to the airport to check in for your outgoing flights.
