The Inca Trail trek – 2 days

You will take the train from Ollantaytambo to the KM 104 where we will start our 2D-1N Inca Trail adventure.

Early morning pick-up from your Cusco hotel. We drive to Ollantaytambo to board the train to Machu Picchu, getting off at km 104 to begin our trek along the Short Inca Trail. Our first stop is Chachabamba, an Inca site within the Machu Picchu Sanctuary. We then hike for about 3 hours to Wiñayhuayna, a stunning archaeological site with over 40 agricultural terraces, accessible only to Inca Trail hikers. We continue to Intipunku (Sun Gate), an ancient checkpoint with breathtaking panoramic views of Machu Picchu. We then descend to Aguas Calientes, where we settle into the hotel for the night.

After your discovery of the Inca citadel, you will take the bus to go down to the village of Aguas Calientes. The journey lasts approximately 30mn.

Night at superior room.

You will have to go to the main avenue of Aguas Calientes to take a shuttle bus to the gate of Machu Picchu. The journey takes about 30 minutes.

After your visit to Machu Picchu you will walk back down to Aguas Calientes. The hike lasts about 1h30. In case you finally want to go down by bus to the village, it is still posible to buy your ticket at the exit of the site.

You will take the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo. Then you will be picked up by the train company and will board a shuttle bus that will bring you back to the station of Wanchaq in Cusco. It is necessary to count 1h45 of journey by train then 2h of shuttle afterwards.
