Off-the-beaten-path tour from Colca to Cusco: Apurimac route, Q’eswachaka bridge, and Palcoyo mountains (3 Days)

You leave Chivay today for a great expedition day across the Andes mountain range, connecting the Colca valley to the mining region of Espinar. You first go up the picturesque Sibayo valley before entering the Suyckutambo Regional Conservation Area. You enjoy a walk in the heart of the impressive natural scenery of the Tres Cañones, immense rock formations sculpted by rivers. You then explore the Maukallaqta archaeological complex, an isolated ancient pre-Inca city, before reaching the village of Espinar.

Your journey continues north for a day rich in heritage discoveries. You make a first stop to visit the K'ananmarca ruins, an impressive circular archaeological complex dating from the pre-Inca Wari culture.
You hit the road again to reach one of the region's treasures: the Q'eswachaka Inca suspension bridge. Made from Andean straw (ichu) and rebuilt manually every year by local communities, this UNESCO-protected bridge offers a fascinating dive into ancestral traditions.
You end the day in the pottery community of Raqchi to share the daily life of the inhabitants.

Early departure for the Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain Range, a wild and preserved alternative to Vinicunca. After a fascinating stop at the Stone Forest and its unique geological formations, you begin a 4-hour panoramic hike on a gentle descent towards the village of Ananiso.
Along the way, you admire the ochre, red, and purple hues of the mountains with breathtaking views of the majestic Ausangate glacier. You savor a nature lunch before setting out to explore the bottom of the spectacular Ananiso canyon, a millennial geological wonder.
Your driver awaits you there to provide your return transfer to Cusco.
