Set out on a 3-day adventure in the footsteps of an ancient Inca emperor. A totally out-of-the-beatten tracks itinerary that combines breathtaking panoramas, regional heritage and unforgettable experiences with locals.
Today we will pick you up at your hotel and drive to Tambomachay on the heights of the ancient capital of the Inca Empire. After visiting this site we will begin, with our team, a long gradual ascent of about 4h30 to the Queullacocha pass. Once at the top, we will have lunch while enjoying a beautiful panoramic view of the city of Cusco and its surroundings.
After our break, we will start another 4 hours of effort in high altitude pampas and lagoons until we reach the community of Patabamba.
Our friend Rosalio and his family will have prepared a “pachamanca”, a traditional meal of the area for our arrival. We will share the afternoon with them and sleep in their house.
After breakfast, we will leave Rosalio’s family and begin our hike by going to the balcony of the Sacred Valley. From there we will dominate a large part of the valley and we will be able to appreciate the villages of Pisac, Calca and Lamay, as well as the peaks of Pitusiray, Sawasiray and the impressive Veronica.
Then, we will begin the second difficulty of our trek: the ascent of the Pukamarka pass, which we will reach around noon. After crossing the pass, we will descend to the entrance of the León Punku Canyon where we will have lunch.
After a good rest, we will cross this incredible canyon taking a stretch of the ancient Inca Trail that we will follow until we reach the ruins of Huchuy Qosqo. We will spend the late afternoon discovering “Little Cusco” before arriving at the Natividad house where we will spend the second night.
Last day of effort today with the Tauca pass that culminates at 4435m of altitude ! It will take us about 4 hours from Huchuy Qosqo to reach the highest point of our 3 day adventure. Once at the top you will enjoy unique views of the entire Urubamba mountain range.
We will enjoy a long rest at the summit before starting a 3 hour descent to the Piuray lagoon and the town of Chinchero.
Once in Chinchero we will take you to your hotel (if you spend the night there) or our driver will take you to Cusco or to your next stop in the valley.
