Walk on one of the most beautiful trails in the Cusco region and enjoy an unforgettable experience and incomparable panoramas between the Perolniyoc waterfall and the Inca gate of Inti Punku.
We pick you up directly from your hotel and head to the small Andean village of Socma located at 3000m above sea level and approximately 1h30 drive from the city of Cusco. Our driver will drop us off in the center of the village, where we will meet all the members of our team that will join us for 3 days. After checking all our equipment, we will start our adventure and walk first to the Perolniyoc waterfall.
We will need an average of 1 hour to reach the foot of the waterfall where we will take a break to fully appreciate the unique and relaxing environment offered by this beautiful place. We will then continue our itinerary and climb up to the ruins of Raqaypata located above Perolniyoc.
Located at 3500m above sea level, the archaeological complex of Raqaypata is a perfect place to rest and enjoy a nice view over the Socma Valley. You will visit this Inca tambo with your guide and learn more about its history and importance in the local heritage.
We will finish the day with a last effort and a last climb to reach the community of Rayan where our camp will be waiting for us to spend the night.
Night in camp.
Long day of effort and trekking! Today is the most complicated day of our itinerary. We will wake up early to share a delicious breakfast prepared by our team. After breakfast, we will first climb the Rayan Valley towards the Niyoc pass culminating at 4400m above sea level. Arriving at the pass, we will continue our efforts until we reach the highest point of our trek at 4500m above sea level. The climb will be intense but the view at the top worth it ! You will have an unforgettable view of the Apu Veronica and a large part of the Vilcanota mountain range.
We will rest for a while before starting a long descent of about 3 hours to the Inca gate of “Inti Punku” (Sun Gate in Quechua). During the whole hike we will be dominating the Sacred Valley over which we will have amazing views.
Inti Punku is a wonderful and mysterious place. You will discover its origin and history with your guide before ending the day at our second campsite. Night in camp.
After a good night’s rest, you will have a delicious breakfast admiring the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Our third and last day of trekking is quite short and totally downhill.
During the morning, we will cross the quarry of Cachicata, place of origin in Inca times of the stones used for the construction of Ollantaytambo. You will see many carved stones, some finished, some unfinished, throughout the site. We will explore the site and continue downhill for approximately 3 hours to the town of Ollantaytambo where our adventure will end.
In Ollantaytambo, our driver will be waiting for us to return to Cusco or to take you to your next destination.
