Sacred Valley – Coffee/Cacao – Machu Picchu

On the first day, we'll pick you up at your hotel and drive to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We'll start our visit in the village of Chinchero, where we'll take part in a textile workshop that will teach us ancestral techniques that have survived from the time of the Inca culture. After this visit, we'll move on to Moray, an agricultural laboratory that you'll discover with your guide.

We'll then head to the Maras salt mines, from where we'll begin a magnificent downhill hike to the Urubamba River. After meeting up with our driver, we'll end our day in Ollantaytambo, where we'll visit the village's Inca ruins.

We'll be heading for Huayopata, located on the Amazonian route to Machu Picchu.

On arrival in Huayopata, we'll be greeted by Julia and her family. You'll have some free time to settle into your rooms before lunch.

In the afternoon, Julia or her husband will accompany you to the heart of the family's coffee and citrus plantations, where you'll learn all about the Peruvian coffee production process, from plant to cup, and finally prepare your own coffee to enjoy.

You'll share dinner with your host family and stay overnight.

You'll have a typical breakfast before heading off to your host family's fields. After last night's coffee, today you'll discover Peruvian cocoa. The basis of our much-loved chocolate, cocoa and its production process are relatively unknown to us. This half-day will be rich in learning and discoveries!

At midday, we continue on to our next destination: Hidroelectrica.

You'll hike from Hidroelectrica to Aguas Calientes, the last village before the famous Machu Picchu. The hike lasts approximately 3h30-4h. Keep an eye out for the ancient Inca citadel perched atop the mountain.

You'll need to go to Aguas Calientes' main avenue to catch a bus to the Machu Picchu gate.

The journey takes around 30 minutes.

Machu Picchu:
This last day will probably be one of the highlights of your trip. You'll discover the Inca city of Machu Picchu, considered a masterpiece of Inca architecture, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and known as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

Situated between the Andes and the jungle, Machu Picchu went unnoticed for centuries, until Hiram Bingham, sponsored by National Geographic, began to reveal its unique riches.

Machu Picchu still holds many secrets... You'll walk at your own pace through the streets of the city, which seems lost in the past. You'll also have time for some quiet contemplation of the site.

Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes:
After your visit to Machu Picchu, you'll hike down to Aguas Calientes. This hike takes about 1h30, but if you prefer to take the bus down, you can always buy your ticket at the exit.

Train Aguas Calientes - Cusco:
You will take the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, then board a bus that will take you to the Wanchaq station in Cusco.

The train journey takes 1 hour 45 minutes, followed by a 2-hour bus ride.

Transport to Cusco:
Our driver will pick you up at Wanchaq station and take you to your hotel.
